The publication ‘Cloudplexity’ is the result of a collaboration between the Spanish artist Mario Santamaría and Informal Office. The book has the same name as the artist’s exhibition which took place in 2019.
We are used to talk about the ‘Cloud’, but can we ever agree on what it looks like? Cloudplexity investigates the different representations of Internet and the construction of the metaphor of Cloud as a form of connectivity. The artist collected different drawings made to represent Internet in patent applications submitted to the US patent archive since 1979. Mario Santamaría, is a contemporary visual artist who works with a wide range of media, often using photography, video, performance and websites. He’s the co-founder of the Trama34 space (2016) in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat.
